We are honored to be a part of this and excited to see this idea come to life! π¦
Happy Monday!πΌ
Starting the week off with two very important shout outs...A big thank you to donors, Arrack Construction INC. for generously donating 20 Victorian cottage-style butterfly houses that will be part of our 2024 Bluebird Trail expansion project!π¦π¦π¦π¦
These houses will be painted with colorful designs by the young members of the Navigator scouts, local troop #370. This is an auxiliary art project of the Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival. The kids will earn badges for their participation. They are scheduled to be installed in March to enhance the beauty of the trail and its natural surroundings, while providing shelter to beneficial insects.π¦ππ
We can't wait to see the cumulative efforts of all!π
For those curious, these houses were hand-crafted of kiln-dried hardwood, exterior grade plywood and pine shingles for the roof They were specially built for wildlife purposes, so there is no pressure-treated wood or harmful chemicals of any kind.π
Watch for updates throughout this fun, community project and check out this link on the City of Conyers, GA website to learn why Big Haynes Creek Nature Center's goals this year are dubbed the "year of the butterfly." π«Ά
