The weather is going to be below freezing over the next few days.

Safety is always the main concern when there is severe weather. When taking caution you can be better prepared for the situations that may arise.
Report any and all leaks ASAP.

If you have an irrigation system; ensure the irrigation system is winterized.

Protect your outside hose bibs by disconnecting your water hoses, cover the faucet, and ensure that they are not dripping.

Leave the cabinet doors open where plumbing is located and turn the faucets to a very slow drip to keep the plumbing from freezing.

Turn on your heat (there could be an odd odor at first, if this odor does not go away please contact maintenance ASAP). If your heater is gas, you must make sure that your pilot light is lit in order for heat to work properly.

Secure your pets and ensure they have the necessary items to keep warm during the winter season.

Bring in tender plants, as well as ensure that the trees and shrubs in the yard are being maintained and trimmed back.

If you have a water softener at your property: Add salt as needed.

Be sure to clean out the gutters around your home.

Change the batteries in the smoke alarms

Secure windows and screens.

Be sure the weather stripping at the exterior doors is intact.
