In a recent analysis, personal finance company WalletHub compared 182 U.S. metros on a range of 45 key metrics under four broad categories: affordability, activities, quality of life, and healthcare.
Bonus: Miami was also named among the Top 5 most fun cities in the U.S. in a recent WalletHub study.

Miami scored high based on the abundance of retiree-friendly activities, coming in first for art galleries and fishing facilities per capita and seventh for adult volunteer opportunities.
Miami — and all Florida cities for that matter — also received points for tax friendliness, since the state has no estate or income taxes and has low taxes in general. Miami is the sixth-most walkable city in the rankings and has plenty of easily accessible public transportation as well.
“For older residents who want to remain active and socially engaged, those amenities can make a meaningful difference in day-to-day quality of life,” WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said. “Miami also has relatively favorable care costs, ranking 18th for homemaker services.
