The rule: Art should relate to the furniture below it. Ideally, the bottom of the frame sits 3-8 inches above the piece it's anchored to (sofa, console, bed).

Why it matters:
โœ… Creates visual connection between furniture and walls
โœ… Makes the room feel cohesive instead of scattered
โœ… Grounds the art so it doesn't look like it's floating awkwardly

If you can't follow the 3-foot rule (like in a hallway), use the 57-inch center rule instead: center of the art at 57 inches from the floor.
