📚☕ Midtown Miami is getting a brand-new Barnes & Noble, and this one is bringing more than just books.

The new location is taking over the former West Elm space at 3201 N Miami Avenue inside the Collection at Midtown Miami.

The store is expected to span nearly 14,000 square feet and feature Barnes & Noble’s newer, modern design, plus a full-scale B&N Café where you can browse, read, meet friends, or grab a coffee. ☕📖

Even more interesting, the company reportedly signed a 10-year lease with two additional five-year extension options, showing a serious long-term commitment to Midtown.

The opening is currently targeted for early October 2026, adding another lifestyle destination to an area already surrounded by residential towers, restaurants, shopping, Wynwood, and the Miami Design District. 🌴🏙️

Midtown continues to evolve, and openings like this give residents even more places to shop, connect, and spend time close to home.

✈️ Miami International Airport is getting a MASSIVE upgrade.

What was once described as a roughly $9 billion modernization plan has now expanded into a broader program worth up to $14 BILLION, with more than 200 projects planned across MIA. 🤯

From new gates and expanded concourses to upgraded baggage systems, parking, restrooms, elevators, escalators, and airport technology, Miami is investing heavily in the future of one of its most important global gateways.

Two major projects to watch:

🏗️ Concourse K
A new roughly 300,000-square-foot concourse with six additional gates, plus new dining, retail, and passenger spaces. Target completion: 2029.

✈️ Concourse D Expansion
A roughly $1 billion project expected to add 17 traditional contact gates and upgraded passenger facilities by around 2030.

And there’s a reason for all this growth.

MIA welcomed more than 55 million passengers in 2025 and the airport is preparing to accommodate more than 77 million passengers annually by 2040. 🌎

This is bigger than an airport renovation. It’s part of how Miami is preparing for continued growth in tourism, business, trade, and global connectivity.

The longtime Winn-Dixie at 6770 Bird Road officially closed in August, making way for a future ALDI at the Bird Ludlam Shopping Center. 🛒

What makes this story interesting is how long this corner has served the community. The grocery store originally opened as Kwik Chek back in 1960 before later becoming Winn-Dixie.

Now, ALDI is preparing to take over the space as part of its continued expansion across Florida. The shopping center’s current plans already identify ALDI as the incoming grocer, although an official opening date has not yet been announced.

🌴✨ Hidden in the heart of Coconut Grove is a Miami landmark that feels more like an architectural escape than a traditional hotel.

The Mayfair House first opened in 1985, designed by Miami architect and sculptor Kenneth Treister. Inspired by Antoni Gaudí, Maya design, tropical landscapes, and organic architecture, the property became known for its sculptural details, colorful mosaics, carved wood, fountains, lush greenery, and dramatic open-air garden atrium. 🏛️🌿

After decades of changes, the hotel received an approximately $50 million transformation that brought many of Treister’s original ideas back to life while introducing bold interiors, custom furnishings, tropical patterns, local artwork, and individually styled guest rooms.

It reopened in 2022 as the Mayfair House Hotel & Garden with 179 rooms, a rooftop pool, and a renewed appreciation for its one-of-a-kind Coconut Grove character. 🏨✨

And its story is still evolving. In June 2026, the property changed ownership in a transaction valued at approximately $110 million.

Miami has no shortage of standout architecture, but the Bacardi Building still manages to stop people in their tracks. 🏙️ 🎨

Built in 1963 at 2100 Biscayne Boulevard, the former Bacardi headquarters became known for its bold modernist design and massive blue-and-white ceramic murals created by Brazilian artist Francisco Brennand. More than 28,000 hand-painted tiles turn the tower into one of Miami’s most recognizable works of architectural art. 💙

A decade later, the colorful “Jewel Box” was added, bringing dramatic stained glass and even more personality to the complex. ✨

Today, the property serves as the national headquarters of YoungArts, giving this historic Miami landmark a new life centered around creativity, performances, exhibitions, and emerging artists.

The complex was also added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2018, preserving an important piece of Miami’s cultural and architectural story. 🌴 🏛️

It is proof that great architecture can evolve without losing the history that made it special.
