In June 2025 a 19 year old named Clélia Verdier from Lyon France was placed into a medically induced coma following a serious attempt at taking her life. She was unconscious for three weeks.

In those three weeks her brain lived seven years. And she found happiness.

She fell in love. She got married. She became pregnant and gave birth to triplets, two girls and a boy she named Mila, Miles and Maïlée. She felt every contraction. She remembers the first moment she held them. She watched them grow up, learned their personalities, read them bedtime stories. One of her daughters passed shortly after birth and she felt the grief of that too.

When she woke up she immediately asked where her babies were.

There were no babies. There was no husband. There was no family. Three weeks had passed in the real world and none of it had happened.

She said waking up felt like being violently pulled from one world into another. She still grieves her daughters today. She says she will always consider herself their mother, that they will always have a place in her heart even though they only ever existed in her mind.

Doctors say this is possible because the brain under heavy sedation can completely distort time perception, compressing years of subjective experience into weeks of real time.
