If you stayed this summer and remember the sea turtle nest next to the dune cross, it boiled last night. 60 turtles made their way to the ocean. NEST is expecting another 40-60 to emerge today or tomorrow. Photos courtesy of our generous HIJO neighbor, Mr. McGill.

4x4 parking permits on sale now

When driving on the 4wd beach, please remember to air down, drive at a slow, safe speed, be patient and conscious of people especially children playing on the beach and please stay at least 50 feet from the wild horses. 4 years ago today we settled on this house. With structural problems, leaking plumbing, closets bursting with decades old junk, and few updates since it was built in 1985, the task of bringing this house into this century seemed daunting and overwhelming at times. In each off season - 2022, 2023, and 2024 we undertook a major project. This off season we took a break and didn't have a major project. We have added some small touches and comforts to make the house feel more like home.

This particular one is for the moms. The ones who truly don't go on a vacation, but rather on a "trip". I was made aware of the difference when a friend shared this blog with me after I had my first child and its accuracy still stands today.
