Why there? Trout. Organizers wanted Paul Volcker in the room, he was a devoted fly fisherman, so they moved the whole symposium to Wyoming. It worked, and the world’s biggest bond desks have been showing up ever since.
Now the part that affects you. Most people think the Fed sets mortgage rates. It does not. ❌A 30-year mortgage follows the 10-year Treasury, because almost nobody keeps one for 30 years. Most are gone in seven to ten.
Watch it. Inflation data landed yesterday morning, the 10-year moved to 4.67%, and the 30-year is at 6.66%.
Most people move because of life changes. 💫The rate is just the timing.
