Nueces Lofts The Nueces Building, built in 1928 & originally named the Sherman Building, sits just two blocks west of Corpus Christi Bay at Peoples St. and Chaparral.

Built in 1928. 64 newly converted loft apartments in the historic Nueces Building located at beautiful Peoples Street at Chaparral. Originally just six floors in height, an additional four stories were added in the 1930's for a total of ten floors. Over the years, the building has housed the offices of several prominent businesses. In the late 1970's, the City of Corpus Christi was the largest tenant. Ownership changed hands in 1979 and the building received its current name. The Nueces Lofts plan has been accepted by the Department of Interior and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. As part of the renovation, the ground floor has been restored to its original historic appearance with wood store fronts ad recovery of the original transom windows and tile work above and below the first floor storefronts. The building's mechanical. electrical and plumbing systems are completely replaced along with the new fire sprinkler system. The building's first level houses the on site management office, lobby, Flex Fit Gym, a retail space and tenant storage lockers are available for rent in the mezzanine area. One and two bedroom loft apartments are in floors two through ten.
