📉 U.S. Foreclosures on the Rise in 2026

Foreclosure activity is climbing again, with Q1 2026 filings up 26% year-over-year—the highest level since early 2020. Nearly 119,000 properties saw foreclosure activity this quarter, marking a full year of steady monthly increases.

🏠 What’s Driving the Trend?
• Higher interest rates, rising insurance premiums, and growing property taxes
• Pandemic-era relief programs and forbearance options ending
• Tougher access to loan modifications

📍 States seeing the biggest impact: Indiana, South Carolina, and Florida.

📊 While the jump is significant, analysts say this looks more like a return to pre-pandemic normal than a sign of a major housing crisis.
