Today I picked up a real estate sign… and I don’t think I’ve ever felt so much weight come off my shoulders while pulling a sign out of the ground.

And it reminded me of something.

People see the sign in the yard.
They see the pictures.
They see the Facebook posts.
They see “For Sale” and eventually, hopefully, “SOLD.”

What they don’t see are the HOURS behind that sign.

The phone calls. The texts. The late nights. The early mornings. The marketing. The money spent out of pocket. The conversations behind the scenes. The constant problem solving. The worrying about things that aren’t even technically yours to worry about because you care about the outcome.

They don’t see how much of yourself you can pour into doing the best job possible for someone.

And sometimes, despite how hard you work, not every situation is meant to make it to the closing table with you.

I used to think being good at what I do meant holding on tighter. Trying harder. Giving more. Fixing one more problem. Having one more conversation.

I’m learning that sometimes being good at what you do also means knowing when it’s okay to let something go.

Not every sign you pick up represents a failure.

Sometimes it represents a boundary.

Sometimes it represents choosing peace.

Sometimes it represents knowing you gave something everything you had to give—and being okay with walking away knowing that.

So today, I pulled a sign out of the ground, loaded it into my truck, and instead of feeling defeated…

I felt relieved.

And maybe somebody else who pours their heart into their business needs to hear this today:

You can work hard. You can care deeply. You can give 110%. And you can still decide that protecting your peace is worth more than proving how much you can tolerate.

Some signs feel good going in the yard.

And every once in a while, one feels even better coming out. ❤️
