We love supporting local organizations who do tons for our community, and we hope you do too! If you get the chance, head on over to Kiwanis Club of Mesa Verde and give them a like. This non-profit supports and donates a lot of time and money to the youth of Montezuma and Dolores counties. From the side by side raffle, duck race, poker run, and much more, they raise money to give right back to the kids in our area. Why should you hire a Realtor from your local area???

✨Geographic Competency✨

🧐🤔Have you heard this term before? If you haven't, then I'm here to tell you! This basically means you are knowledgeable or "competent" in the area you are working. In real estate, this is important when choosing a broker. You want someone who understands the area! Someone who also lives there, and knows what's important! Many folks outside our area may not understand how our water rights work, or the value of a share of MVI, or how seasonal access actually means you aren't driving to Groundhog in the winter (😜), and so on and so forth. But the biggest issue is, as a Realtor, you aren't doing the best by your client if you are unable to be near the area you're helping them to buy or sell in. I (Kim) may have grown up in Greeley, but I'm not going to sell a home there. That is what a referral service is for! So instead of asking your Realtor to help you buy or sell a property that isn't in their *geographic competent* area, ask them for a referral to someone they trust who does live there. You deserve the best!

As we head into Pick-n-Hoe weekend it's a perfect time to remind everyone about what a special place Dove Creek is. Everyone in this town embodies the old adage "neighbors helping neighbors" which is why the sign that welcomes you to town says, "Somewhere Special". There's not a person in this town that wouldn't bend over backwards to help their neighbor out. It's a hard working, fun having, community oriented place.
