If you know me... you know I love natural ways to move through life. Vinegar has so many uses. I use it for the ways listed below and many many more fun way like killing weeds. Vinegar is pet friendly and bugs hate it too!

Ready to tackle your Spring Cleaning? Here are a few great natural ways to get your house Clean for Spring 30 minutes a day for 5 days.
*****
DAY 1
Washing Machine - Did you know you need to clean your washing machine?
TOP LOAD
First, run cycle on HOT with 4 cups of beach (no detergent). Then, Fill washer with HOT water again, add 4 cups of white distilled vinegar, Let machine agitate for 2 minutes and turn it off to let Vinegar mixture sit for an hour. While mixture is sitting, dip a clean sponge in the water and clean the rest of the machine, pulling dispensers out, wipe down the entire machine. Once the hour is up finish the long cycle and spin!
FRONT LOAD
Start by prepping a mixture of 50/50 Bleach and HOT water in a bucket. Put gloves on, wipe down the entire machine, pulling back the rubber gasket to clean inside, scrub all that mold away. After scrubbing, if you still see mold, soak the towel in the bleach mixture and shove it into the rubber gasket. Let sit for 30 min. Remove the Bleach towel, throw in washer and run entire wash cycle on the hottest setting, remove rags. Next, add 2 cups of vinegar, 2 clean bath towels and run entire wash cycle on the hottest setting. Once complete, make mixture of Vinegar and HOT water 50/50. Remove detergent dispenser, wipe down. Then wipe down the inside of the washing machine, don’t forget the door inside and out.
*****
DAY 2
Windows – Let the outside in!
First Take a rag or hand duster and wipe down the windows and blinds, use a vacuum after if needed.
BLINDS (not cloth)
You will need a small bucket, white vinegar, rags or old socks, q-tips for the nooks and corners. Fill bucket with ¼ warm water and ½ vinegar. Put one sock on each hand, dip one hand in the mixture and keep one hand dry. Pull the sock along each side of the blinds, then follow with the dry sock. The q-tip is for hard to get spots.
WINDOW
Clean each side of the window with Windex.
SCREEN
Remove screen from window, brush with a hand broom and then hose off outside or in your shower.
*****
DAY 3
Doors, Baseboards and Walls
Wipe down doors and walls with a dry duster or rag. Then... Fill a small bucket with ¼ warm water and ½ vinegar. I like to use socks but you can use a rag if you like. Start wiping... get the cracks, molding and frames. Make sure you do both sides of each door, including the front door. Now don't forget the moldings and baseboards too.
*****
DAY 4
Grout – Its got to be done!
FLOOR, SINK AND COUNTER
Vacuum and Wipe down area with a duster or rag. Sprinkle baking soda covering all the grout. Use a spray bottle filled with Vinegar to spray Vinegar over grout covered with baking soda. Let sit for 3-5 minutes. Use an old toothbrush to scrub grout. Keep a cup of water near by to rinse off brush but don't add too much water to the floor. Wipe up muddy solution with rag and then clean as usual.
TUB
Use a spray bottle with equal parts DAWN blue dish soap and Vinegar. Spray on tub and let sit for an hour, then wipe away. Keeps the dangerous chemicals out of your bath tub!
*****
DAY 5
Oven and Stove – Saved the best for last!
OVEN
Wipe out all the crumbs from your oven. On a deep plate or shallow bowl, add 3-4 drops of DAWN dish soap, 4 TBSP of Baking Soda, Juice of one lemon or lime ,slowly add 5 TBSP of White Vinegar. Mix and slather paste onto oven, sides, top, back and door. Let soak for 3-6 hours. Scrub some of the tough spots (shouldn’t need much scrubbing). Use a washcloth to wipe until all cleanser is gone.
STOVE GRATES
Take ¼ cup of Ammonia put in a large zip lock or a bag that can seal so the fumes and smell stays in bag. Take outside and leave overnight. Next morning, wipe clean. Good as new!

NOTE: DO NOT EVER MIX BLEACH AND VINEGAR

🍁FIVE FALL MAINTENANCE TIPS FOR YOUR HOME🍁

With winter season approaching, now is the time to do a few simple tasks around your home. Not only can this prevent damage from occurring, but it can help keep your home exterior clean. Instead of giving you a long laundry list of things to check off, here are what I feel to be the five most important.

🍁 #1 Is My Home Safe?
This is simple question to ask yourself every spring and fall.
· Do you have one smoke detector on each floor of your home? Do I need to change the batteries?
· Do I own a fire extinguisher? If so, is it up to date?
· Where is my first aid/at home emergency kit? Do I need to make any changes?
· Can our family be okay if there is a major event like an earthquake, flood, tornado or other natural disaster?

🍁 #2 Am I Protecting My Home From Water Damage?
Water damage can be a root cause of home problems. Here are a few areas to check to lower your risk of water damage in your home.
🍂· Check your gutters & downspouts
Check for debris that could be collecting in your gutters. If you see leaves collecting, remove them in order to prevent clogged gutters. Also, check if your gutters are damaged & are still attached to your home. Lastly, check your downspouts. Ensure they are draining properly instead of being clogged and pooling water near your home.
🍂· Check your roof
Loose or missing shingles on your roof can increase your risk for water damage. Make sure your shingles are in good condition before that winter storm hits. If you have a home with a flat roof, ensure it doesn’t have any buildup of leaves.
🍂· Are exposed pipes still insulated?
Check the exposed pipes around your home to ensure the insulation isn’t ripped or torn.

🍁 #3 Is Air Escaping My Home?
Check door and window seals for signs of deterioration. Use weather stripping or caulking around windows and doors to help keep warm air in and cold air out. You’ll also lower your energy bill. On another note, if air can get into your home, water can too.

🍁 #4 Did I Replace My Furnace Filter?
To keep your furnace running efficiently, you need to replace the filter often. Some filters may need to be changed every month.

🍁 #5 Are Rodents Nesting In My Home?
Rodents tend to nest in your crawlspace, attic and even in your walls. Walk the perimeter of your home & any access points in your garage to make sure you do not have any cracks or holes for rodents to enter. Also, check your vents along your foundation for holes or deterioration. As the weather gets colder, rodents are always looking for a warmer place to live.

While preventative maintenance can get easily get pushed on the back burner when life gets busy, it’s still important to make the time to do it.

Let me know if your have any questions or need some handy help!

IS WINTER A GOOD TIME TO GO HOUSE SHOPPING?

The housing market is dead around holiday time. But looking for a home or investment during the winter months can be a great idea if you're up for it. House shopping during off-peak times means less choice, but it also may mean sellers are extra motivated to make a quick sale. This is a huge bonus for buyers, because bargains are readily available.

There are also fewer buyers looking around for properties. Negotiate fast closings, inclusions and repairs; you're more likely to get the deal you're after, and there are fewer chances of multiple offers (which can be stressful.) If you live in colder climates, the cold weather is an acid test of a home's hardiness, and even in the warmer climates, you're likely to see the heating system in action.

Make the most of a slow market, because come spring, it will rev up and may price you out of the market. Give me a call and let's talk specifics. :)

It may be a spooky time of the year, but don't let that scare you out of the real estate market.

October is an interesting time of the year for buying or selling a home. Inventory levels are on the decline, which usually means that drives the prices up. But this time of the year, inventory levels are dropping because many people don't like to have their home "open" during the holiday season.

What does this mean for you? If you're selling, there is a lot less competition out there competing for those buyers. If you're on the other side of the fence and looking to buy, while inventory levels may be lower, the homes on the market often will deal so they can consider their home sold and not have people looking at their home during the holiday season.

So either way, if you're thinking of buying or selling, the sooner the better... so give me a call today.

A Beautiful Season
The leaves are changing and the kids are going back to school. It's a busy and beautiful month. As always, if you know anyone who has an interest in buying, selling, or investing in real estate, be sure to give them my name! Referrals mean everything, and I would love to help them achieve their real estate goals.

It's that time of the year for many parents to start counting the days until school starts. If you're one of the lucky ones, school has already started. :)

As the school year begins, everyone's thoughts turn towards the children. Did you know owning a home benefits your children? Some interesting statistics have been published about this and I thought I would pass them along.

Children's reading scores are 7% higher for homeowners.

Children's math scores are 9% higher for homeowners.

High school graduation is 25% higher for homeowners.

And the big one... College graduation is 116% higher for homeowners.

So lets get your kids on the path to success... call me today and lets get you into a home (or a bigger one!) :)

Keeping Calm and Cool
It's the summer and the memories are waiting to happen.
Hope you are having a great summer and enjoying August before things kick back into gear. As always, if you know anyone who has an interest in buying, selling, or investing in real estate, be sure to give them my name! Referrals mean everything, and I would love to help them achieve their real estate goals.

Except for the holidays, mid-summer is the slowest time of the year for real estate. If you're in the market now, some great deals are out there since many sellers have been on the market a while and missed the spring selling season, so give me a call and let's talk about your specifics.

For the rest of us... it's vacation time! Here are some good mid-summer vacation ideas I found and thought I would pass along.
Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean - Family-Friendly Cruises

It's never a bad time of year to set sail; cruise lines launch new trips and ships perfect for any time of year. Take advantage of the school vacation and plan a family-friendly cruise or the ultimate kid-adventure aboard a Disney cruise.

National Park Escapes

When everyone else is heading to the beach, bring along your hiking boots for a trip to the mountains. Take the kids on a family mountain vacation or take advantage or warm, dry weather in national parks like the Grand Canyon in Arizona, Acadia in Maine or Mount Rainier in Washington.

Amusement Park Fun

Sure, there may be long lines and aggravating crowds, but for many travelers, riding a roller coaster is an annual summer tradition. Brave the humidity and hot weather to mingle with the mouse and his entourage of princesses at Disney.

Lollapalooza Music Festival

Head to Grant Park in Chicago for the Lollapalooza Music Festival. What's not to like about an outdoor summer concert? Most large cities, and many smaller cities have great music festivals, theater int he park, and even movie night in the parks for kids. Check with your chamber of commerce for details and schedules.

Sturgis Bike Rally

Get your motor revving'! Join hundreds of bikers as they converge on campgrounds and bars in Sturgis, SD, for the Sturgis Bike Rally. One of the best motorcycle rallies in US, Sturgis runs during the first week of August. In addition to being a fun social gathering for bikers, the event also includes music concerts and bike shows.
