If you’re going to be out and about this weekend, here is some very helpful information about the winter storm coming up!
*** Major Winter Storm ***
When: This Saturday Night through Early Monday
Update As Of: 11:56am CST
Ok folks, here’s the map you’ve all been asking for. I think I’ve pretty much covered all the details well for you the past few days and the message remains unchanged along with the same continued trends so I will make this post short and to the point.
Bottom line is everything remains right on track for a very impactful storm to enter our region mainly after 10:00pm Saturday Night through the Very Early Hours Monday AM. With it will bring a mixed bag of precipitation from north to south as shown in the graphic below with our official winter storm forecast totals posted below.
I cannot emphasize enough for our southern regions to prepare for a major-major ice storm likely resulting in thousands without power due to downed lines. If you live in this region now is the time to prepare for ways to stay warm especially with well below normal bitter cold temperatures in the single digits overnight to follow thereafter. Generators will be a big plus if you have one!!
As for the STL Region, it’s a mixed bag. Could be a brief period of freezing rain mixed in but should mainly be a Sleet/Snow Winter Mix. Keep in mind those totals are rather major especially if we get more sleet resulting in a compaction coating of stuff for days. All high-level warning criteria stuff in fact. If we get temperatures to drop by just another degree or two sooner then those high end totals will certainly verify. As for the North, just prepare for One BIG Snowfall!!
This storm will impact our entire viewing region on significant levels like causing major disruptions to both travel and flight. NOW IS THE TIME TO PREPARE!! As always, should there be changes we will be sure to keep you updated.
Stay safe out there,
- Chad
