We are excited for the direction in which our Women’s Ministry is moving. We have new and upcoming events in store for the next few months. One of these will be Women’s Focus Prayer, beginning tonight at 7pm and continuing on the first Thursday of each month. You do not want to miss this time where we come together as the Women of the church to bind together in unity through prayer. After much thought and prayer it has been decided to give our Women’s Ministry a name. Because of the importance of binding together, I think this one word would be a great description of what we should be among ourselves and with Jesus—Woven.
As women, we fulfill many different roles each and every day—daughter, mother, sister, wife, neighbor, friend, coworker, leader, etc.—and these are all a part of our identity. They make us who we are. We must remember that whatever roles we fulfill, they should all be woven together to show Christ. There is one True Story, one Lord of All, but there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to womanhood. In some ways, when we come together as women, we represent more diversities than we do similarities. And that is the beauty of how God created us! Each of us have strengths and weaknesses, and when we are weak, we have sisters who are strong to lift us up. When another sister may be weak, we can be strong for them.
Psalm 139:15 states, “My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.” We are created according to a great, precise, complex plan in the beautiful image of our Lord. We are woven together by His hand.
Jesus didn’t just mold us to stand alone, He created us to be woven together, as a people. Just as Paul prayed for the Colossians, we pray the same be true of our women’s ministry, “That their hearts may be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ, in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” -Colossians 2:2-3
The goal of this ministry is to embody His love and truth toward one another, to learn, grow, and chase after Him alongside one another, and to be so intertwined with Jesus that others no longer see us, but Him through us.
“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” -Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NIV)
Join us for our next Woven gathering March 26th. We will be having a Women’s Fun Day. More information will be coming soon!!!
