Hint- you shouldn't be able to stick a screwdriver into wood! This means the wood is soft and suffered from water or termite damage! Call a termite inspector and check your drainage to make sure all water drains away from the foundation of the house!

Adding an addition to your house is a great way to open up space or prevent crowding. It may look pretty on top, but it's what underneath that matters. Cutting a hole through the foundation wall to make room for an addition may not be the smartest idea... Always check to make sure any work on the house has a permit and is structurally sound! There's nothing more important that a sturdy foundation.
