On Monday, August 24th 2026, the REMAX brand will be sold to The REAL Brokerage. The most iconic of all real estate brands will not go away, but will remain, according to third-party market investigators, "the most trusted brand of real estate in America."
Will there be changes in the Ivory Tower? Of course, there will be some, but in the trenches, here in the Oldham County area, well maybe the entire Louisville Metropolitan Statistical Area, (Jefferson, Oldham, Henry, Meade, Nelson, Shelby, Trimble, Spencer, Bullitt, along with Floyd, Clark, Washington, & Harrison Counties of Indiana) buyers and sellers of real estate will find the most productive, most trusted group of agents hard at work still flying the REMAX balloon, just as they have been and will be on Sunday August 23, 2026.
As a REMAX franchised broker-owner since 2008, my wife, Gale, and I have proudly labeled ourselves as REMAX. It's been a struggle at times because the REMAX business model requires, by its very nature, only those agents capable of professional quality performance.
Each and every REMAX office from 1973 through August 2026 has been independently owned and operated. This has meant that while the brand was owned for the most part of its history by one couple in Colorado, every brokerage was Mom and/or Pop. Local people with local ties to schools, little league baseball, girl scouts, churches, synagogues, and many have sat on local community governmental boards.
So, come Tuesday morning, REMAX agents will still be here serving their clients, their clients' referrals, and keeping real estate local.
