Welcome to the “Crossville School” page as it's referred to often!

You may have driven past this building and wondered, “What’s going on in there? Is it even being used? It is a shame it's vacant!" Maybe you haven’t heard of us yet. Well… let’s change that!

Hi, I’m Samantha, and I own and operate this business with my whole heart. This building is privately owned and is home to Chalk & Slate, an event center where we host all kinds of events throughout the year. From celebrations and parties to community events, sports, fundraisers, showers, reunions, and so much more — this building is being used!

When we purchased the old Crossville School, we had big dreams for what this space could become and how we could use it to bring something positive and meaningful back to the community I was raised in — a community I love and want to see continue moving forward.

Over the past year, we have poured countless hours, a whole lot of hard work, and plenty of money into bringing this building back to life and making it a place we can be proud of. We’re not finished yet — there are still plenty of upgrades and big plans ahead!

But while we’ve been working on the building, something even more important has been happening inside these walls…

Memories are being made. ❤️

Families have gathered, kids have played, celebrations have been held, community events, wedding receptions, and so many people have helped us fill these walls with new memories.

We are incredibly thankful for every person who has supported us, rented our space, shared a post, attended an event, or simply believed in what we are trying to do.

So if you’ve wondered what’s happening inside the old Crossville School…

We’re here. We’re working. We’re growing, and we’re just getting started. 🖤

Ben has begged for a year to paint a doormat, and last night he did just that! He painted two for special ladies, Mrs. Newell and Mrs. Moore. He was so excited to gift them this morning!

*He wants to sell some to buy go kart parts. Either mat can be duplicated for $20

Just a reminder of where we started, and where I know we are headed in 2027! Even from this video I posted earlier in the year, the bathroom upgrades have happened, the gym doors removed, lots of little tasks, and several memories have since been made in these walls! Thank you for believing in us!
