I’m not one to get emotional over celebrities, but as a fellow gal who came from nothing and has always worked hard to become something - while keeping empathy, understanding, and faith at the forefront of everything I do - today feels like a solemn day.

I just wrapped up two days at the Northwest Indiana REALTORS® Association’s (NIRA) Strategic Planning Meeting, where I serve as a peer elected director.

Most people don’t see what goes into this work. We spend hours planning for the future of our association, strengthening professional standards, protecting consumers, improving education for REALTORS®, and making sure our members are held to a strong Code of Ethics.

Why does that matter?

Because buying or selling a home is one of the biggest financial decisions a family will ever make. Strong professional standards don’t just benefit REALTORS®. They help protect the people we serve.

Buying a home isn’t just a transaction to me. It’s where public policy meets real life.

My experience in real estate has given me a front-row seat to the challenges Hoosier families face every day. Rising property taxes, higher utility bills, insurance costs, and a housing market that’s becoming harder to navigate all affect whether someone can afford to buy a home, keep the home they have, or build a better future for their family.

Housing isn’t just one issue. It touches almost every part of our lives.

That’s why I’m running for the Indiana State Senate.

District 6 deserves someone who already understands these challenges and has experience serving in an elected leadership role, building consensus, and making thoughtful decisions. I’ll bring that same practical, data-driven approach to Indianapolis as we work to lower costs, expand housing opportunities, and strengthen consumer protections.

There has never been a more important election in Indiana, and I’m ready to get to work on day one.

Many of you know that every year I organize a backpack and school supply drive to help local families get ready for the new school year.

This year, I’ve decided to focus our efforts on the families of USW Local 7-1 who have been impacted by the lockout.

I’m partnering with Michelle Heaps Wietbrock and the Region 5 to help make sure these kids head back to school with the supplies they need.

There are a few easy ways you can help:

I have known Samantha since middle school. Today I had the honor of helping her and her husband accomplish their dream of moving to a farmhouse on acreage in the country!

We’ve looked at homes on and off for a few years, each time the Manter’s were a little more disheartened by the search.

And just as they finally have their bundle of joy on the way… the perfect timing for their perfect home showed up in perfect timing too!!
