Quick Citrus County homeowner reminder!

We are looking at temps dropping below freezing for the next two nights, potentially seeing historical lows and maybe some flurries ❄️

That kind of cold is rare here, and it can cause serious (and expensive) pipe damage if you’re not prepared, so I wanted to share a few simple things you can do now to protect your home.

Freeze Prep Checklist:
1. Keep your heat running around 64–68 degrees overnight
2. Drip interior faucets - especially ones on exterior walls (or just do them all to be safe)
3. Disconnect all hoses from outdoor spigots
4. Wrap outdoor hose bibs with towels + secure with duct tape
5. Turn off your irrigation system
6. Shut off the irrigation water supply if you can
7. Wrap your backflow preventer with towels & duct tape
8. If you have a pool, make sure your pool pump is running during the freeze

🥶 One last tip: If a pipe does burst, make sure you know exactly where your main water shutoff is - it can save you a lot of stress.

Citrus County homes aren’t built for 20-degree weather, so a little prep now goes a long way. Stay warm out there!
