SILVAR, in collaboration with Bay East Association of REALTORS and local REALTORS® associations, invites members to a virtual REALTOR® safety program on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 11 a.m. with retired Army Master Sergeant and real estate leader Maurice Taylor.

This one-hour course teaches a tactical awareness mindset, helping agents spot predatory behavior, boost situational awareness during showings, and establish safety protocols for themselves and clients. The program focuses on preventing dangerous situations and supports Core Standards compliance.

In real estate, your best asset isn't your listing—it's your life. Led by retired Army Master Sergeant and industry leader Maurice Taylor, this one-hour intensive course moves beyond basic tips into a "tactical awareness" mindset. Participants will learn how to identify predatory behavior before it escalates, implement military-grade situational awareness in everyday showings, and create an unbreakable safety protocol that protects both the agent and the client. Over 70 SILVAR members attended last week's SILVAR BBQ and Chili Cook-Off, hosted by the Cupertino-Sunnyvale District and the Los Altos-Mountain View District. The event took place at Linda Vista Park in Cupertino, and members enjoyed good food from The Art of BBQ and dessert from Kona Ice. Congratulations to member Richard McCaffrey, the winner of the chili cook-off!

The remaining catered food was delivered to the following fire stations: M***a Vista FS, Cupertino FS, Station 1 San Jose, Station 3 San Jose, and Station 8 San Jose.

A very warm thank you to the SILVAR BBQ and Chili Cook-Off Committee, especially Committee Chair and Director Tracey McNeely, for a successful and fun afternoon.
