The San Jose hot spots I’ll gladly fall into traps for 😉

These are the kinds of places that have me rearranging my entire schedule and pretending I had nothing going on anyway. Some are food, some are views, all of them dangerous to my plans.

What’s a Bay Area/ Silicon Valley trap that always works on you? Drop yours in the comments.

If you want even more spots in The Bay Area, and more specifically The Silicon Valley, worth getting trapped at this summer, I’ve got you.

Comment SUMMER and I’ll send you my free The Silicon Valley Summer Guide with the best local spots, events, and weekend plans.

I’m Bethany, a The Silicon Valley local and real estate agent sharing the best of life here. Follow for more local recs.

Cupertino isn’t just for tech millionaires, regular families live normal lives here, too.

Thinking about moving to Cupertino, but worried it’s only for tech millionaires and nonstop chaos?

Here’s what surprises most relocating families: day-to-day life here can feel really calm and “normal”, quiet, tree-lined streets, pockets of walkable neighborhoods, parks you’ll actually use, and easy access to errands without feeling like you’re living in a tourist zone.

That said, the real challenge isn’t “Is Cupertino livable?” It’s finding the right pocket for your priorities: a bigger yard, walkability to school, a shorter commute, and being close to shops/downtown Cupertino while still staying in your budget.

I also get questions like: Can we offer under asking and still win? Is this neighborhood truly walkable (or just looks like it on a map)? How busy is it during school drop-off? Those details matter, and they’re usually what make a home feel right for a growing family.

If we haven’t met yet, I’m Bethany — a Cupertino real estate agent and local helping growing families relocate to Silicon Valley and land the right home and neighborhood fit.

✨☀️If we haven’t met yet, I’m Bethany! I relocated to the Bay Area 7 years ago! At the time, I had my 5 and 11 year old going into middle school and kindergarten! It was a WIIIILD ride!! My husband was starting a new job and that meant he’d be living here solo until we found Home..☀️✨

Relocating is hard. That’s a fact. But relocating while trying to navigate school districts and neighborhoods all while trying to be close to work, with less traffic or NO traffic, can be even harder! When we moved up here 7 years ago(still seems insane!), I was doing what everyone does; I was on Zillow, Redfin, trulia etc and everything between. Trying to find a home with no traffic to and from my Hubbys office, short distance to schools etc. Zillow was saying schools were these, while Trulia and Redfin were saying they were other schools.. or a mix of the schools.. The problem is the district remaps the districts with no notice. Or, without enough notice that these apps can’t keep up.

We didn’t know where the flow of traffic gets really thick, where the grocery stores were- and how about a pharmacy?? We looked EVERYWHERE!! We were flying out here every weekend to look at places from Los Altos to East San Jose… in one day.
AND for people not in the bay…. That’s like driving from Santa Monica to Woodland Hills at 2pm during the week. Yeah…Absolutely not!!!
We needed someone who kept up with all this info, And we didn’t find them.. yeah yeah.. we googled. Didn’t help much.

I could not imagine doing this again if I were coming from somewhere else, like Seattle, Oregon, Washington or even somewhere as far as Texas. No way.

Luckily I have figured it out, so you don’t have to!
My school guide is particularly helpful, but I’m not just sending that out w***y nilly! DM me and I send it to you.

❤️

Cupertino weekends aren’t what most people expect. If you’re relocating to Silicon Valley, this is for you..

Yes, tech is a huge part of life here. But what surprises a lot of my relocating families is how quickly you can shift into “reset mode” once the laptop closes: parks everywhere, easy hikes, family friendly neighborhoods, great food, and that calm, clean, tucked-in feel that’s hard to explain until you spend a Saturday here.

If you’re house hunting for a home, the weekend vibe is something you should actually test in person. Drive the neighborhoods at different times, check how active the parks are, and pay attention to how far you are from trails, coffee, groceries, and schools. Those details end up shaping daily life way more than the stats on a listing.

And because I hear this weekly; yes. The homes here are pricey. But what you get is FAR beyond the sticker price. There is no need for private schools when the Bay Area has the “ivy leagues” of public education. With our HS all ranking 10/10. Middle and Elementary schools as well. Kids from our schools goto MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Northwestern, Berkeley, UCLA etc.

If we haven’t met yet, I’m Bethany! A Cupertino real estate agent and local who relocated here 7 years ago, and now I’m helping families on their next adventures!

Comment “GUIDE” and I’ll send you my relocation guide ✌🏼

It's a tale as old as time.. what we would have done differently, if we could go back in time..
as many of you know, I relocated with my family from Los Angeles to The Bay Area 7 years ago. Not going to lie, it was hard! We left all of our friends and family behind and headed for a city we knew nothing about! But, it was in the same state so..how different could it possibly be?!
Hahahaha. NIGHT AND DAY different, and we weren't ready
The housing market. The sticker price about sent me to the moon. We didn't know where to look and so we looked everywhere!! And I mean EVERYWHERE!! 45 minutes one direction and hour the other directions. And if you're not familiar with California, traffic in this state is a nightmare everywhere.
the neighborhoods are so vastly different from area to
area! Los Altos, Mountain View and Palo Alto have redwoods!! Like, everywhere.... Front yard, back yard, city streets.. it's like you're driving in mini Forrests! While Cupertino has a Sub burb AND city vibe..
I could list so many more difference but I fear we'd be here all night
So what would I do first?? Find someone who lived here!
Hopefully a parent who could have helped me figure out their schools and find the most family friends neighborhoods.. you know... the ones with sidewalks!!
If you're looking to relocate, let's have a chat. You don't have to buy in the Bay Area to find a family friendly community. Take it from me, l've done the research and the work to find the gems. Now I live in a community known around the world. I can help you in ways you'd never think of..

Celebrating our best girl, ! What an incredible weekend with some amazing women. Already missing the beach and the laughing fits that made several of us p*e our pants. And oddly enough, I miss the golf cart rides where I thought for sure, I was going to die !
Thank you for planning this whole trip and not getting anyone killed on the golf cart 😂

Hope you had the best weekend Rach, I know I did!
