Sitting in the den alone with some blue accent lighting reflecting on the heavy days we had last week.

Quiet.

Reflective.

Breeze blowing from the ceiling fan on my toes.

Grizz is so quiet.

It seems on the days that I am jam-packed and running to and fro, God says, ā€œtime to slow down and Hear me, See meā€.

I’ve been up and out early with three meetings in New Port Richey and another in Hudson with a dear, sweet elderly couple scared of their new reality: downsizing. The wife kissed me on my cheek and grabbed my hand as I left saying thank you.

Running to-do errands, run thru a drive-thru for burgers no onions for dinner. Full throttle today.

Home and on the phone non-stop. My lips are dry and parched from talking, problem-solving, scheduling, coordinating, confirming, training.

Lee looks into my office door and whispers, ā€œI need to talk to you.ā€ While I am managing three devices and a laptop of lives.

I stop. Put it all down.

I know.

I hug him.

We sit on the couch in my office. We talk softly and reflect on the heavy from last week. My brother and Pops.

We are private.

Here I am.

Hospice has been called in for Pop, Lee’s dad. So many calls. More talking. Planning.

Quiet.

Dark with blue twinkles, Grizz and I, in the den.

Love your family. Hug your family. Forgive. Be kind. Be gentle. Make the time. Take the photos.

God made this day. God blesses our days. God bless my family.

What Happens When a Simple Act of Checking on a Neighbor Changes Someone’s Future?

Four years ago, while walking my beagles through our neighborhood, I met my neighbor Victor and his grandson, J.

Like many neighbors, we’d stop and chat. Dogs. School. Life. The kind of conversations that happen when people take the time to know one another.

What I didn’t know then was that our paths had crossed for a reason.

Victor had lost his wife, the love of his life to cancer. J had lost his mother to su***de when he was only a few months old. Victor and his wife had raised him as their own. By 2022, it was just the two of them.

Earlier that year, I learned there had been an emergency at their home. I feared the worst.

Concerned, I mailed a card to let Victor know he was in my prayers. A short time later, I decided to stop by one evening on my way to Target just to check on them.

That simple visit changed everything.

As we sat and talked, Victor began sharing his story, his challenges, and his hopes for the future. Before I left that evening, he asked me to help him sell his home.

There was no listing presentation.

No sales pitch.

No marketing package spread across the kitchen table.

Just a handshake between neighbors.

The journey to closing wasn’t easy. Life rarely is.

But on June 3, 2022, we made it to the closing table.

Looking back, I don’t believe our meeting was accidental. I believe God places people in our path for a reason. Sometimes we’re called to do more than our job description. Sometimes we’re simply called to show up.

This experience taught me something I’ll never forget:

Real estate isn’t really about houses.

It’s about people.

It’s about helping families through life’s biggest transitions—whether they’re exciting, heartbreaking, or somewhere in between.

The most meaningful transactions aren’t measured by sales price. They’re measured by the trust people place in you during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

I’m grateful that Victor trusted me to walk alongside him and J during that season.

And I’m grateful for the many professionals, friends, and family members who helped make it possible.

Kindness matters.

Community matters.

Loving your neighbor matters.

And sometimes the most important thing you can do is simply knock on the door and ask, ā€œHow are you doing?ā€

Who have you checked on lately?

Just another day for Grizz, your favorite with your favorite .

He and that Yeti have been with me over the past few days, dealing with hard conversations, real-life situations, more coffee than I care to admit, a Pending, a coming soon and a listing consultation.

We’ve registered for A Peach Festival and ordered all sorts of fun peachy swag. He and Yeti have been busy!

Here’s to .

Another hard conversation families face isn’t about selling a home.

It’s deciding what happens next after a loved one experiences a medical event.

Should they stay where they are?

Move closer to family?

Consider assisted living?

There are no easy answers, but there are options.

In this video, I share some of the questions families should be asking before making a decision.

If you’re navigating this situation right now, you’re not alone.
