If you spend enough time around Lake Martin, you will eventually hear people talking about full pool, winter pool and the fall drawdown.

For longtime homeowners, the seasonal change in water level is simply part of life on Lake Martin. For someone considering buying waterfront property, however, seeing the lake several feet lower than it was during summer can raise plenty of questions.

How much does Lake Martin actually drop? When does the water begin lowering? What happens during the deeper drawdown? And does every waterfront property look the same at winter pool?

Understanding Lake Martin's seasonal water levels can be especially helpful when buying, selling or owning waterfront property.
