Winter Weather Preparedness Tips & Reminders
-Keep your thermostat set to the same temperature during the day and night (67 degrees or higher is generally recommended), and let your faucets drip lightly to prevent pipes from freezing.*Open up cabinets below the kitchen and bathroom sinks to allow warm air to circulate around the water pipes.
-Make sure all windows and entry doors are shut tightly.Avoid doing laundry while temperatures are below freezing.
-Don’t forget that space heaters and grills are fire hazards and should not be used inside your home.
-Remember that candles are not allowed in our community for fire safety reasons. If the power goes out, please use flashlights as a source of light in your home instead.
-Make sure your phone and electronics are all charged up in case the power goes out.
-**Keep pets cozy inside or consider bundling them up when taking them outside. Please do not leave pets outside for an extended period of time.
-Stay away from any frozen ponds or lakes, and do not walk on any water surface that looks frozen.
-If the power/heat goes out, do not use your stove/oven to keep warm or run your car in your garage, since doing so can pose a risk for carbon monoxide poisoning.
-If you’re planning to be away over the next few days, please let us know so that our service team can drip your faucets and open your cabinets for you while you're gone. If a pipe does break in your home or if water begins to seep inside, please call the service hotline at 833.917.2039.
