Of my life raceial injustice has been a key factor in our perception of real estate’s value. No area more than Oak Cliff where I grew up better illustrated this perception. The term
“White Flight” was manifested repeatedly. The families of many classmates moved to new neighborhoods in succession attempting to separate themselves from others they deemed inferior .
In the last several years a different market of buyers are now able to access real estate by its own value rather than by the notions held about the residents of an area. In 2022 we progressed. Somewhat. There is still a vast amount of growth we face to en do intolerance. I am grateful to be part of an industry that in 2022 has been able to come full circle. We are transparent in accepting the role this profession played and proud of the changes it initiated to correct the inequalities throughout yhis part of our great city’s past. Together we are makin Dallas a beacon for equality.
