Do you think this will actually happen in Texas?

What Abbot is proposing: his plan includes:
* Eliminating school property taxes for homeowners over time.
* Requiring stricter limits on local government spending.
* Limiting appraisal increases.
* Giving voters greater control over future property tax increases.
* Continuing to reduce Texans' annual property tax bills.

The question is not whether Texans want lower property taxes. Most do.

The question is how to pay for schools afterward.

Property taxes generate tens of billions of dollars every year.

Public schools receive a significant share of their funding from local property taxes, so eliminating them would require replacing that revenue with another source.

Possible options include:
