Your last pay stub is not your W-2 in a cute little disguise. 😭

I know it feels like it has “all the numbers,” but tax forms have details your pay stub may not show the same way. Things like benefits, pre-tax deductions, retirement contributions, and year-end adjustments can change what needs to be reported.

So please don’t pull up with a screenshot from December talking about, “Can we just use this?”

Most of the time, no beloved. We need the actual W-2.

If you changed jobs, moved, or your old employer is acting like they joined witness protection, start tracking that form down early.

Tax season already has enough plot twists. Your paperwork does not need a mystery arc too.

If the IRS sent you an IP PIN, please do not treat that letter like junk mail with better vocabulary. 😭

That little number matters.

An IP PIN helps protect your tax return from identity theft, and if you were issued one, we need it to file your return. Not “I had one last year.” Not “I think it’s in a drawer.” The current one.

Tax season is already enough without playing hide and seek with a six-digit code.

So when those IRS letters start coming in, open them, read them, and put the important ones somewhere safe.

2S Taxes can help with the return, but we cannot file with imaginary numbers and good intentions.

If you had health insurance through the Marketplace, do not stroll into tax season without that 1095-A like it’s optional paperwork.

That form matters.

It shows your coverage info and any premium tax credit details tied to your plan. Translation: we may need it before your return can be filed correctly.

And please don’t guess. “I think

An extension is not a magical “pause my taxes” button. 😭

It can give you more time to file the return, but it does not automatically erase what you may owe or stop the whole clock like you hit timeout in a basketball game.

Some folks file an extension and then vanish until the last minute, acting shocked when the same paperwork is still waiting on them.

Baby, the forms did not pack up and leave.

If you know you need more time, that’s one thing. Life happens. Missing documents happen. Business records get messy. But use that extra time to actually get organized, not to avoid eye contact with your tax folder.

2S Taxes can help you figure out what’s missing and get your return handled without the dramatic season finale.

Buying clothes “for work” does not automatically turn Old Navy into a tax deduction. 😭

If you can wear it to brunch, church, Target, or somebody’s baby shower, the IRS may not care that you also wore it to a client meeting.

Uniforms, protective gear, branded items, industry-specific clothing, that’s a different conversation depending on your situation.

But “I needed to look cute for my business” is not the tax strategy some folks think it is.

Same goes for random purchases with a business card. The card does not bless the expense, beloved.

If you’re self-employed or running a business, keep records and ask before assuming. 2S Taxes can help you separate real deductions from “I just wanted it.”

That paycheck looks real cute when barely any taxes come out.

Then tax season pulls up with a clipboard like, “So… about that.” 😭

Your W-4 is not just random paperwork HR made you fill out on your first day. It helps decide how much federal tax comes out of your check.

If too little is withheld, you may feel rich on payday and stressed at filing time. Especially if you changed jobs, work multiple jobs, got married, have a working spouse, or added side income.

And no, claiming “exempt” because you wanted your full check is not a life hack. That can backfire fast.

Take a look at your pay stub before the year gets too far gone. A small adjustment now can be way less painful than a big surprise later.

2S Taxes can help you understand what your paycheck is trying to tell you.

Owing taxes is not a reason to disappear from your tax return like it’s an ex you blocked. 😭

Some folks avoid filing because they already know they might owe. Baby, hiding does not make the IRS forget your name.

Filing and paying are two different conversations. If you owe, there may be options to handle it, but you don’t get to those options by pretending the paperwork doesn’t exist.

And please don’t let shame make financial decisions for you. Life happens. Jobs change. Withholding gets messy. Side income sneaks up. That does not mean you ignore the whole situation.

Bring the documents. Ask the questions. Let’s look at the numbers clearly.

2S Taxes can help you file with a plan, not a panic attack.

Tax season will have co-parents acting like claiming a child is a race to the submit button. 😭

Filing first does not automatically mean filing right.

Who can claim a dependent depends on the details, not who got mad first, who “usually does it,” or who yelled the loudest in the text thread.

Things like where the child lived, support, agreements, and required forms can matter. And if two people claim the same child, the IRS may have questions nobody wanted to answer over breakfast.

So before you file based on vibes, screenshots, or “my cousin said,” get the facts straight.

2S Taxes can help you look at the situation clearly before tax season turns into family court with W-2s.

If your teenager got a summer job, congratulations. They are now learning two important life lessons:

1. Taxes come out before you even touch the money.
2. Food delivery will humble a paycheck fast. 😭

Parents, don’t let them toss those tax forms when they come in. A summer job can still mean a W-2, and depending on the situation, they may need to file.

Also, your child earning money does not automatically mean you can’t claim them. That depends on the full picture, not family group chat opinions.

Tell your teen to keep their pay stubs, save their W-2, and stop treating “taxes withheld” like somebody personally robbed them.

Welcome to adulthood, baby. It’s giving paperwork
