Hey guys. You all know I don’t post much — I keep to myself. But I need to share this in case it helps even one person around my age the way it’s helped me.
I’ve spent my whole life worrying about everybody else. It’s just what I do as a mom — but if I’m honest, it was starting to consume me. I didn’t even realize how much until my daughter Amanda sat me down and told me it was my turn to be taken care of. She got me an appointment right away to get my hormones checked at Wellworx Dermatology & Wellness, and sure enough, they were out of balance. I’m three weeks into hormone therapy now, and I genuinely feel like a version of myself I haven’t felt in years — lighter, calmer, less weighed down by worry I couldn’t explain.
Amanda didn’t stop there. She looked at how I was eating and basically said, “Mom, you’re punishing yourself with this food.” She was right. I’ve never liked cooking, but she sat with me and showed me how to actually season things and make meals I look forward to instead of dread. Five days in, I’m down about 3 pounds — and she made sure I knew not to rush it, that 1 pound a week is the healthy way to do this.
She also got me started on her skincare routine and surprised me with a hydrafacial at Wellworx. It felt like a massage for your face — you do peel a little after, but my skin has never looked better.
Now she’s pushing me toward the one thing I’ve never been able to stick with: exercise. She sent me a video from Tammy Wadsworth, so yoga or Pilates is next. We’ll see how that goes for someone who’s never liked working out a day in her life.
I don’t say this enough, but I’m so proud of the woman my daughter has become — and so grateful she pulled me out of my own head. If you want real inspiration, go follow her:
