Hunts tap Venu to help bring billion-dollar vision to life around Frisco's Toyota Stadium

The Hunt family has tapped a company to help bring a hotel and entertainment destination to its future mixed-use district around Toyota Stadium in Frisco.

Hunt Sports Development and Peak Curated Development selected Venu Holding Corp. for the project, according to a Sept. 22 announcement. It will include a roughly 290-room boutique hotel and about 40,000 square feet of convention, meeting and event space on the east side of the Major League Soccer stadium.

The event space will include a 15,000-square-foot ballroom that can be converted into a 3,000-person music and entertainment venue, according to the announcement.

Morgan Stanley has selected Dallas for its billion-dollar regional hub, signaling a major win for the city that will bring thousands of employees to its burgeoning “Y’all Street” financial district.

Gov. Greg Abbott announced the move Monday morning. The expansion was expected after The Dallas Morning News reported that the investment banking giant signed a lease in a downtown skyscraper earlier this summer.

Under the plan, Morgan Stanley will occupy office space in downtown's Fountain Place skyscraper at 1445 Ross Ave. The high-rise will serve as a temporary base while Morgan Stanley waits for its new Uptown tower. Morgan Stanley will lease about 255,000 square feet at Fountain Place for just over four years. Around 2031, the banking giant is expected occupy its new 700,000-square-foot campus at McKinney Avenue and Fairmount Street.

“Morgan Stanley's expansion in Dallas reflects our commitment to investing in markets that offer exceptional opportunities for growth, innovation, and talent. With a thriving financial services industry in Texas, we are excited to establish Dallas as a strategic hub for our firm to serve clients and attract top talent in the years ahead,” Morgan Stanley executive vice president, chief legal officer and chief administrative officer Eric Grossman said in a statement.

New permits are another sign that Dallas will land $1.2B Morgan Stanley tower

New construction permits filed earlier this week show work at an Uptown site tied to Morgan Stanley’s planned $1.2 billion regional headquarters is moving forward.

The series of filings calls for the construction of a below-grade parking garage for a “future office tower” at 2401 McKinney Ave. The site is currently home to seafood restaurant Truluck’s. An additional commercial plumbing permit was filed for the neighboring parcel at 2425 McKinney Ave. Estimated project costs for the garage work are $45 million.

Morgan Stanley is not named in the filings. The business name listed in the permits is McKinney & Maple. However, both addresses were referenced in city documents as sites the investment banking giant is eyeing for its tower.

Centurion American buys 168 acres, plans hundreds of homes in Denton County

Centurion plans to develop 828 single-family homes on the site, located at the southeast corner of FM 428 and Coffey Road in Aubrey, according to a Sept. 8 announcement from the developer.

Dallas-based Davidson Bogel Real Estate brokered the sale. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Developers Eyeing Dallas' 50-Mile Trails Loop For Uptown-Like Opportunities

The Katy Trail borders some of Dallas’ premier real estate, but a new project aims to bring that prestige to areas outside of Uptown.

The popularity of the trail, a 3.5-mile hike-and-bike path that runs through the heart of Uptown Dallas, has driven property values in the area through the roof over the past 25 years. Local nonprofit The Loop Dallas is spearheading 11 miles of new paths that will connect existing trails to form a 50-mile continuous circuit throughout the city.
