Let me break it down into detail for you.
• Buying and selling is a HUGE deal. One of the biggest transactions of your life. You are hiring me to help you because I’m the expert. You are not expected to know what’s going on. No question is a stupid question. You should ask questions every step of the way!
• This one is pretty straightforward. I never get offended if someone doesn’t want to use me as their Realtor. I get it! Everyone has preferences and different reasons for their decisions. No hard feelings here. But, it always hurts to hear people talk about how happy they are with me but they don’t bring my name up to others. A small name drop for someone like me, is enough to make a world of difference. It means a lot.
• Realtors who don’t actually care about their clients make me so mad AND so sad. Someone is trusting you to help navigate them through a major life decision. You should care.
• I’ve heard this so many times! “When it’s convenient for you.”, “I wanted to look yesterday but didn’t want to bother you last minute.”, “I had a question but didn’t want to burden you.” My clients are NEVER, ever burdens. Period. Any day, any time — you can reach out. You don’t have to worry about my schedule, because my schedule revolves around you.
• It’s no secret that Realtors tend to be social butterflies. That is great! We love to meet new people and talk. But part of building deep relationships and understanding is also listening. When we listen we are able to learn more from others and fully understand our client’s needs.
• When I come look at your home, do not apologize for it being lived in. Homes are supposed to be lived in. Only perfectly staged vacant homes look “perfect”, and that is because they’re vacant! I’m not judging you for your overflowing trash can, piles of laundry or messy pantries. I too have piles of laundry.
• So many people think all Realtors are the same, but we aren’t. There are so many things that make realtors different from one another. Things like organization, knowledge, social skills, marketing abilities, motivations, personality, passion, understanding, flexibility and compassion all vary. It’s important to understand!
