Officials from the U.S. Treasury and the White House are predicting that many Americans will receive "gigantic" tax refunds for the 2025 tax year, due to new tax cuts applied retroactively to the beginning of that year under the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" (OBBBA). The upcoming 2026 tax filing season is projected to have significantly larger-than-usual refunds for many taxpayers.

What to Expect: Taxpayers should use the official IRS website for definitive information and to manage their tax situation. The IRS has provided penalty relief for employers regarding the new tip and overtime reporting requirements for the 2025 tax year, encouraging them to provide accurate information to employees so they can claim the proper deductions.
