PSA: Paulding WMA logging information. I just spoke with the DNR and had a lengthy conversation regarding the WMA land that is being scalped. For everyone concerned about the logging that is going on, at Goldmine Road. Pine beetles were causing major destruction to the pine trees so the only option was to cut the dying trees and neighboring live pines to eradicate these beetles. The pines are a source of revenue for the lumber and they needed to harvest them while they are still usable. I was assured the land is not being developed or sold to developers. To the contrary; I was also assured they are actually obtaining more property in order to form a natural wall to discourage development in the area. I was told the plan is to do a controlled burn and spray the underlying vegetation in order to replant and restore the land to what is used to be. He said this usually occurs within a year - although it will take years to regrow the forest. There has been a lot of panic regarding development on this property; I was included in that panic because we just do not need more subdivision development in Paulding County. I also asked about the fishing lakes on the WMA. The upper lake is all but gone. I was told it was probably flagged due to the dam being unsafe and instead of rebuilding the dam, it will more than likely be drained due to the expense of engineering and moving dirt in order to rebuild, so he said they will probably not rebuild it. To me that is sad. I wish they'd use common sense and use the funds received from the sale of the trees to repair the dam and preserve our natural resources and the homes that the animals live in. I hope this clears up rumours and puts a lot of minds at ease. This information is from my conversation only and I do not guarantee, in any way, what was told to me. WHY would Anyone list their land or home with land, with an agent who knows NOTHING about land? I ask the listing agent questions such as: Does the property has a creek or stream? Answer: "I don't know, I haven't walked the property". Question: Are the corners marked? "I don't know, I haven't walked the property". Question: Do you have more pictures than just the one from your car window (I can clearly see your side view mirror in your picture) Answer: No, because I haven't walked the property".
WHY would anyone hire these agents? Was it the LOW commission? Is that what sells you on their "services"? You Get What You Pay For!! I have 27 years of Specializing in land. I WALK THE PROPERTY!!
