Heartwarming

"I just kept saying, you can breathe, baby, you can do it, you can do it, I got you..." 😭🙏

Those are words no father ever wants to say out loud. And it is definitely not where local firefighter Jason Horne expected his Fourth of July to go when he took his family out to Alvarado Park Lake.

"We saw a pontoon boat and a jet ski just kind of floating off to the side, and they were very frantically waving people down. That's when I saw the boat that was overturned," Horne said. "When I got closer, they said, 'Our babies are under there.'"

Without a single second thought, the Midlothian Fire Department veteran jumped into action. He dove into the murky water beneath the flipped hull completely blind. He pulled a little boy out first, then dove back under and located a little girl who was completely unresponsive. He pulled her onto the flat bottom of the overturned boat and performed emergency CPR right there on the water until she miraculously started breathing again.

A third boy was found tangled in the anchor lines beneath the boat, also without a pulse. Jason untangled him and managed to restore his pulse, saving all three children before emergency crews arrived at the dock.

But he wasn't alone. His brave 12-year-old daughter, Emilie (pictured right), stayed completely calm under pressure, managing their boat and calling 911 to guide rescue crews directly to the scene while her dad saved those babies. What could have been an absolute heartbreak turned into a miracle thanks to this father-daughter team's bravery.
