According to the Global Alliance for Rabies Control, every year on September 28th, the global community comes together to raise awareness about rabies elimination. This year’s World Rabies Day theme, “Stronger Together,” highlights how rabies elimination is only possible when we work together.

By law, every dog and cat must be vaccinated against rabies. When you adopt an animal from us, the rabies vaccine is included in the adoption fee. If you need a rabies booster, contact our Wellness Clinic at 413-203-4330 or [email protected].

On a budget? We have several free rabies and microchip clinics each year. In fact, we had one last Thursday night in North Adams. Our next one will be in Pittsfield at the Dr. John Reynolds Adoption and Education Center (main shelter) at 214 Barker Road on October 24th (the day of our Subaru raffle drawing) from 8:30 to 10:00 am. Cats must be in carriers and dogs must be on a leash. Please bring previous proof of rabies vaccination if possible. If you wish to join us for festivities leading up to our Subaru raffle drawing, please take your pets home after the clinic so we can promote adoptable shelter animals.
