With house fires on the rise locally and winter typically being the time a majority of house fires occur, I thought I’d share a couple of tips.
These are just a few basic steps to take to educate your family

•Test your smoke detectors
-If you do not have working smoke detectors in your home, reach out to your local fire department, several departments are part of the Get Alarmed program.

•Close bedroom doors before sleeping
•Have fire extinguishers in areas easily accessible to your family and learn how to operate them
•Invest in fire escape ladders if you live in a 2-story+ home and demonstrate to your family how they work
•Teach your children how to dial 911 from your phone if they ever need to
•Have regular fire drills at home with your kids
-go over ways for them to escape their room if there is a fire and note two ways out if the first way becomes blocked
-have a designated meeting spot for your family. somewhere easy to remember that will be out of the way of incoming first responders
-remind your children to never go back inside the home for ANYTHING

You can ask any of our children where our meeting spot is and they will tell you.
We always try to make sure they know what they need to do to stay safe if a fire ever were to break out at our home.
Please educate your kiddos the best you can. Fire Safety starts at home 🚒🧯
