Martinez Market Update
Interest Rates

Home prices are up approximately 19% from this time last year in Martinez and are continuing to rise. This is due in part to the inventory shortage we are currently experiencing and the stringent lending standards that are still currently in place. According to Lawrence Yun, chief economist of the National Association of Realtors, “rising demand and years of sluggish new home construction have forced prices to rise, a trend that is likely to continue into next year”.

Interest rates have also risen approximately 0.8% over the last 4 weeks and are continuing to rise. Although unexpected, the rising rates have slowed market activity, setting the stage for a more balanced market in the months to come.

When pursuing a Mortgage Loan, there are many factors involved to acquiring a low interest rate. The lender you choose, your credit score, cash reserves, and the type of loan you are applying for will all factor into the interest rate you are able to obtain.
