Comcast is working on the internet in the area today so we are experiencing occasional outages. This outage affects our Internet and phone service. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

28 years ago today Vermilion County Abstract Company (established in 1869) became Vermilion County Title, Inc. A few local professionals decided to take a chance on a new adventure and what an adventure it was. Pat O’Shaughnessy and Jill Kavanaugh, thank you for taking that chance and especially for giving me, a then 18 year old high school senior, an opportunity (twice lol) that would turn into a career. The business is now in the more than capable hands of Ryan O’Shaughnessy and it continues to be a success. I, the once youngest and newest employee find myself the most tenured and certainly among the eldest. I’m thankful everyday for the ones I mentioned in this post for providing a place for me to do what I love and that has defined who I am professionally. Happy Anniversary VCT!!

Title Insurance provides security for homebuyers. Vermilion County Title, Inc. has done just that since 1869. We feel Title Insurance Policies are the best and most protective option for homebuyers. We would ask all agents to stress the importance of Title Insurance to all their clients. We look forward to continuing to provide the utmost protection to all homebuyers.

After the FHA announced the acceptance of attorney opinion letters, Diane Tomb believes title insurance is still the best option. Listen to the podcast.

There is some concrete work being done outside of our building so use caution when entering for a closing. If you prefer not to park near the construction area just call the office and we can arrange parking and entry through the back door, off the alley. We don’t expect the work to last long as they are only repairing a piece of sidewalk. Thank you, as always, for your continued business.

Per the Governor’s Shelter in Place order Vermillion County Title remains closed to the public. We are, however, operating at a half staff capacity to fulfil orders and hold closings. We did this to help protect our employees and the clients that come in for closings by keeping the number of people at a minimum. With the reduction in daily staff, turnaround times for commitments and closing statements may be slowed a bit and responses to emails and other forms of communication may be delayed. We will continue to work diligently to complete all the orders with our utmost attention to detail. We ask that you are patient with us and our staff as we work to fulfill your needs, even though it be on a longer timeline. We will keep you updated with any further information as it develops. Thank you very much for your continued business.

Good Afternoon,

I wanted to reach out to all of you and let you know how VCT is handling business in this unprecedented time. The Governor’s executive order did deem Title Companies to be “essential business”, so VCT will be here to serve all of you during this challenging time. We have taken steps to limit exposure for our staff and all of our clients. We will have our doors locked and be closed to the public, but we will open the doors for clients attending closings. We will still accept new orders and continue to do title searches, but we ask that you please email new orders to us or bring them with you if you are attending a closing. We also ask that you inform your clients that we are trying to keep the number of people in the closing rooms to a minimum so we ask that only those who are required to sign attend the closings. We will be disinfecting all chairs and the closing table after each closing. Every signer will be given a new pen and asked to take it with them after the closing. Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes are available and out on our counters.

Although there are no confirmed cases in Vermilion County, we want to keep it that way! Our office will be operating at half staff through April 7, 2020, so we ask that you be patient with us as we navigate through this process and continue to serve all of you.

If you or your clients do not feel comfortable coming to the office for closings that are already scheduled, please let me know. Additionally, if you would like to email over termite reports, deed and P-tax forms, etc., we would be happy to print those out and get them signed at closing.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at the office or on my cell phone. My cell is 217-474-9207.

In this unprecedented time of uncertainty we would like to reach out to our clients and assure you that the staff of Vermilion County Title is continuing to work hard for you. As of now, we will continue to be open 8 am - 4:30 pm. We understand many are limiting their public exposure as much as possible so we are available to you via phone, email, website and of course Facebook. At this time we ask that only necessary parties to a transaction attend a Real Estate Closing. This will help us limit the number of people in the closing rooms and better protect our clients and yours. Any further information will be posted here. In this ever changing time please stay healthy and THANK YOU for your continued business.

When you’re in the process of buying a home, you may be instructed to wire the final closing funds to the title company. This could be your down payment and closing fees or, if you’re buying a home with cash, the entire purchase price. Make sure you know and trust your title company.
