According to Realtor.com, home buyers are willing to pay a premium for the best school districts. In some areas like Dallas and parts of California, parents will pay a whopping 222-390% more to live in preferred school districts. Other features of these hot residential areas are an appealing lifestyle, low student/teacher ratio, and being within walking distance of school.

Locally, the three comparable areas that come to mind are Midtown Mobile with its proximity to several excellent schools; Spanish Fort, especially those neighborhoods nearest the new Stonebridge Elementary; and Olde Towne Daphne, where children walk or ride their bikes and razor scooters to school—Bayside, Christ the King, or Daphne Elementary.
