The “starter home” isn’t necessarily gone, but the path to one has changed.
A recent piece by Ryan Serhant got me thinking about what I’m seeing firsthand here in Fairfield County. With limited inventory, higher prices, and many homeowners choosing to stay put or renovate, that traditional first rung of the real estate ladder has become harder to find.
But harder doesn’t mean impossible. It means getting more strategic.
Sometimes the right opportunity is a smaller home with potential. Sometimes it’s a condo or townhouse. Sometimes it’s a neighborhood or town you hadn’t considered. And sometimes it’s simply knowing which compromises are worth making and which ones aren’t.
