ISLE DAUPHINE CLUB - SHOEBOX STORIES

Every old photo has a story. What’s in your shoebox?

Let’s step back in time for a little while… ❤️

Back to the good old days at the Isle Dauphine Club, when our parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents gathered here to swim, golf, dine, dance, celebrate and simply enjoy life on the island.

Maybe you worked here yourself. Were you ever a lifeguard at the pool? Did you work at the golf course or in the restaurant? Did you learn to swim here?

Maybe your parents dressed up for one of those fabulous parties at the Club. Maybe there was a first date, a wedding, an anniversary or simply an ordinary summer afternoon that became one of those memories you never forgot.

We want to see your pictures, but even more importantly, we want to hear the stories behind them!

Start digging through those old shoeboxes, closets, attics and family albums. Don’t worry if the photos are faded, or less than perfect. Sometimes the smallest detail in the background, like a piece of furniture, a light fixture, the old restaurant, the pool, or even the clothes people were wearing, can give us an incredible glimpse into the past!

When you find something, share your photo in the comments below and tell us the story that goes with it. Who’s in the picture? About what year was it? What was happening that day? What do you remember?

If we can, let’s keep the photos and their stories right here under this original post so that together they become one wonderful collection of memories. Think of it almost like a little community time capsule we can all look through, add to and enjoy.

As we look toward breathing new life into this nearly 70-year-old iconic piece of Dauphin Island history, what better way to help us get it right than to remember what made it so special in the first place?

So dust off those old albums, call your family members and friends and take a little trip with us back to the good old days.

These old walls have witnessed nearly 70 years of life, laughter and memories. Since they can’t tell us their stories, we hope you will❣️

About 20 volunteers, giving approximately 80 volunteer hours to Isle Dauphine in just one morning! This is what "Help Care for Our Spaces" is all about. 🌴💙

LET’S FINISH WHAT WE STARTED! 🧤🌴

We’ve made great progress at Isle Dauphine — and this Saturday, we’re getting back to work to finish up several projects already underway.

Our workday will include:

🌿 Landscaping and clean-up
🖌️ Priming and prep work
🔨 Boardwalk repairs
🪚 Removing fence boards
💪 And tackling a few of those finishing touches!

If you helped before, come see the progress and help us keep it going. If you haven’t joined us yet, this is a great time to jump in!

Every extra set of hands helps us accomplish a little more.

The WORKDAY at the Isle Dauphine Club that was planned this Saturday, has been RESCHEDULED for August 22nd, 8 to 11 am.

We are planning another work day for Saturday, August 1st, 8 am to 11am. This will be a wonderful opportunity to continue the progress we have already made at the Isle Dauphine Club. We encourage everyone to bring their gardening tools & gloves, handyman tools, dolly's, power washer, and enthusiasm. A little more hauling off, grounds grooming, boardwalk repair, priming, trim carpentry. Your talents & participation is greatly appreciated as we work together to beautify our community.
