Today was United Way’s Day of Volunteering, so Ember and I spent part of our morning giving a little love back to our community! ❤️
We walked about 2 miles along the Duck Creek Bike Path, Veterans Memorial Park, and Middle Park Lagoon picking up trash along the way. I’m a huge advocate for volunteering and finding ways—big or small—to make the community we live in a little better.
And, of course, Ember made sure our volunteer adventure had a little comic relief. 😂 She apparently thought the floating plants in the lagoon were solid ground and stepped right onto them… only to immediately discover they were NOT. The look she gave me when she fell in was pure, “I immediately regret this decision.” 🤣
For the record, Ember HATES getting wet.
Although I’m pretty sure her version of the story is, “I saw a pop can and was heroically trying to retrieve it.” 😂 We’ll let her keep her dignity.
All joking aside, it was such a fun morning, and I love seeing people give their time and talents to make our Quad Cities community better.
So now I want to hear from YOU! What organizations, causes, events, schools, teams, shelters, clubs, or community projects do you volunteer with? Drop them in the comments—I’d love to hear about all the good being done around our community! ❤️
