This week, I was absolutely delighted to spend a couple of hours with Bobby Neall. While many know him as our former Anne Arundel County Executive, Iā€™ve come to know him as someone who has called Davidsonville home his entire life and has a genuine love for preserving its history.

We talked about the old Davidsonville Country Market, the families who helped shape this community, forgotten stories, old photographs, and the people who made Davidsonville what it is today. Every answer seemed to lead to three more storiesā€”and a few more people I now need to meet.

The best history isnā€™t just found in books. Itā€™s found in conversations.

I have a feeling something really special is taking shape here in town, and I canā€™t wait to share more with you when the time is right. ā¤ļø

After months of searching, inspections, negotiations, and one final walk-through, this beautiful Davidsonville house officially became home.

One of my favorite things about this community is how one introduction leads to another.

A few months ago, I attended Walnut Hill Farmā€™s garden vendor event and met the wonderful family behind Old Line Creations. I was so impressed with their craftsmanship that Iā€™ve been using their beautiful engraved gifts in my closing baskets ever since.

This basket is full of local loveā€”handcrafted pieces from old.line.creations , honey from The Barn at Walnut Hill Farm , and one of my favorite new traditions: a framed photo I took of my clients on the front porch of their new home.

Funny how one visit to a local event turned into another small business relationshipā€¦ and now together weā€™re helping welcome new neighbors home. ā¤ļøšŸ”

Sometimes one relationship changes everything.

Years ago, I helped my friend Nicole Hughes sell her home.

Then I helped her parents.

Then I got to help her good friends.

Then her good friendā€™s brother and his wife.

Then I helped them purchase their waterfront home in Annapolis.

This week, I had the privilege of helping Nicoleā€™s sister-in-law close on her Glen Burnie home.

Thatā€™s five families connected by one relationship.

I had my first Maryland crabs of the summer this weekend, and it reminded me of somethingā€¦

I donā€™t think thereā€™s any food people are more particular about than Maryland crabs. šŸ˜‚

This weekend I was stunned at someone dipping theirs in butter and lemon juice, and it got me wonderingā€¦

Whatā€™s your crab routine?

Me? I have a system.

I have three little cups in front of me: melted butter, apple cider vinegar, and Old Bay.

Sometimes Iā€™ll dip the crab meat in the butter and then lightly into the Old Bay. Other bites get dipped in the vinegar and then into the Old Bay.

But the butter and vinegar can NEVER mix. šŸ¤£

I also refuse to use a mallet. Years ago someone taught me how to open the claws with a butter knife trick and pull the claw meat out almost perfectly every time, and Iā€™ve never looked back.

Then there are people whoā€¦

šŸ¦€ Save all their crab meat for one giant saltine cracker.

šŸ¦€ Eat the mustard.

šŸ¦€ Wonā€™t touch the mustard.

šŸ¦€ Eat the corners. (I just canā€™t. šŸ˜‚)

šŸ¦€ Swear the claw meat tastes different from the body meat.

šŸ¦€ Have a favorite knife, favorite seasoning, and favorite beer.

We Marylanders are SERIOUS about our crabs.

So, what are your crab fixings? Do you use a mallet or a butter knife? Do you eat the mustard? The corners? Are you a saltine person? Whatā€™s the one thing everyone else does that makes you think, ā€œNope!ā€ šŸ˜‚šŸ¦€
