Davis Riverwalk

Davis Riverwalk Real estate development along the Blackwater River in downtown Davis - mixed use residential and retail.

Davis Riverwalk started as a 7-acre tract with 1100ft of riverfront located in downtown Davis, WV. At the turn of the century the location was Babcock Boom & Lumber Company's mill and the WV Railroad. A boomtown gone bust is steadily transforming into a great place to live and play at the threshold to Canaan Valley. Future plans include a walkable mix of homes, shops and restaurants. And a permanently protected riverside trail with parklike amenities.

Parking. Riverwalk owners & guests enjoy 2 private parking spots per house, plus 3 shared overflow lots. And because we are right downtown, we can walk or ride to any of the businesses! For the general public, the Riverwalk Pavilion near Blackwater Bikes, the Riverwalk Place roadway, the HOA lands behind the houses, and the popular Riverwallk Trail are all open to pedestrians and bikes. There is no public parking anywhere in the Riverwalk subdivision.

Finally the last phase of excavation in Parking Lot #1 of Riverwalk. This is a storm drain exiting to rip rap near the river.

Amidst the rhetoric about the lack of 'affordable housing' in the Davis/Thomas area (and an overall housing stock shortage) is the question of density. Davis lots are 132' deep and have alley at the back. They are perfect for Accessory Dwelling Units; yet the Town Council attempted to zone them out of existence. Instead, the Town should be embracing ADUs.

Accessory dwelling units aren’t just for rentals.

This is one of the late 19th century Folk Victorian homes that inspired the basic Riverwalk profile of front gable, porch and side bumpout. It stayed in one bloodline for several generations, finally bought out by family member Goldie Evans before she passed and I bought it in the early 2000s. It's not in Davis Riverwalk but it's a few blocks way in the old town grid of Davis.
