Dear Casitas & Chautauqua Residents:
We hope you are doing well and staying warm! We wanted to let our community know that the city of Davis and surrounding areas may be experiencing strong rainfall in Highwinds starting today. With the city of Davis in neighboring cities, may experience power outages. We wanted to provide you with some helpful tips and tricks, as well as things you can do to prepare for the storm:
✔️ Charge phones and electronic devices, including extra power banks, in case of a power outage.
✔️Prepare for any medical needs you may have, especially any that may require refrigeration or other electricity.
✔️Sign up for alerts on the PG&E website and follow local government pages on social media for updates. In the event of a power outage, continue to check the PG&E website for real time updates on power recovery.
✔️Create an emergency kit with all of the essential items you may need in case of a power outage. This includes, but is not limited to: canned food and other non-perishable items, power, banks, flashlights, lanterns, push lights, water, extra batteries, any pet essentials, etc.
✔️Have a supply of drinking water available in case municipal sources don’t work.
✔️ Keep your refrigerator and freezer door closed as much as possible to help prolong the life of your perishable items.
✔️Have ice on hand to place in your refrigerator and freezer to help prevent foods from spoiling.
✔️Should a power outage occur. Use battery, operated flashlights, not candles, due to the risk of fire.
✔️Do not touch any downed power lines, these are extremely dangerous. If you see one, please call 911 and PG&E at 1-800-743-5002 to report it as soon as possible.
If you are experiencing a maintenance emergency (that is not a power outage), please call 530-758-2451 for assistance.
