He is a graduate of UC Davis with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. After nearly a decade of mentorship and practice as a structural engineer, Harris went on to co-found and grow a Davis-based structural engineering firm, now located in Sacramento, CA. During his entire tenure Harris served as President and, under his leadership, the firm grew to serve clients- some of the nation’s largest and most suc
cessful builders, developers, and architects- in over twenty states and employed some 45 professionals in three offices with additional capacity found in creating partnerships with firms overseas. Harris has overseen the design and construction of literally thousands of building projects throughout California, the West, and the Southeast. Harris sold his stake in the firm nearly a decade ago in order to pursue other life-long interests, including real estate. In 2008, Tracy entered the field of real estate as an investor and immediately recognized the need for high-level/high-integrity service from agents he was working with. Harris states that “what I needed as a client was sound advice, guidance, market-savvy/local market expertise, excellent project management skills, and a level of follow-through that I could count on- I wanted to know that my agent was taking care of business so I didn’t have to worry about tracking the myriad of details, loose ends, and coordination that a real estate transaction demands- there are literally hundreds of moving parts and dozens of individuals involved- it really does require great project management skills and excellent people skills to get from point A to point B with everyone on board feeling like they’ve had a great experience.” “I knew right away I could excel in this field, and thus began my practice.”
With his long history of Davis and regional market knowledge and deep community connections, Tracy has been a natural fit for the local real estate community and serves as an advisor and guide representing buyers, sellers, and investors in Davis and the surrounding region and has particular expertise in residential real estate, occasionally advising and assisting clients with commercial and agricultural transactions. Connected to the community via staying healthy, fit, active and involved, Harris believes in giving back- he has served on several boards and commissions including co-chair of the City of Davis Business and Economic Development Commission and appointee of many related task forces; Vice President of Yolo County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity; board member of Davis Aquadarts (youth club swim team). Harris was appointed to and served for several years on the Advisory Board of the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Architectural Engineering program. Harris also mentors high school students, among others, who are interested in exploring future life paths in all areas, but typically in real estate, the building industry, architecture, and engineering.
Tracy has a long history of excellent service and follow through. He is by nature collaborative and responsive and by experience, a seasoned negotiator having successfully negotiated thousands of contracts. Harris strongly believes in win-win outcomes and enjoys collaborating with colleagues to that end. Tracy enjoys surfing, skiing, swimming, running, and cycling with his friends, spouse, and four kids, ages 5-months to 22 years!, all of whom have been in and through the Davis school system since kindergarten.
