Buying a house is probably the biggest investment you will make in your lifetime. Knowing how to buy a house, for many, is something they haven’t learned yet, if it’s their first home. When we bought our first house in the Summer of 2009, we were lost and left out on our own. We had one Real Estate Agent that started showing us houses, never explaining we needed to get a Pre-Approval from a lender, never pointing us to different professionals to help us on our journey. They just wanted us to find a house, make an offer and be done.
This is NOT how you buy your first house. There are many things that come into play, and sometimes it can take you a year or more to get all your ducks in a row, know all your options, search for just the right house, and finally, make the offer to buy a home.
Don’t rush into purchasing a home if all the conditions are not just right for your life.
Don’t pick the first Agent you come across. Interview them. And let them interview you, to see if your goals are aligned and you will work well together.
The Agent should guide you to the resources you need to get you prepared for a home purchase. You should never feel pressured to make a decision. Even in the current market, where there are not as many homes on the market. As my mom always said “there is always another sale at Mervyn’s” you don’t have to make a hasty decision today that could cost you more money, heartache, and headaches in the future.
If you are ever in need of some great resources to begin you home buying journey, give me a call. I would be more than happy to direct you to whatever you need.
Thank you!
