A little preparedness reminder for everyone today 👀

There’s a lot going on right now between escalating attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, tighter global fuel markets, extreme weather, and ongoing concerns about the strain on our electric grid and critical infrastructure.

Today Reuters reported tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz fell to its lowest level in more than two months after attacks increased, while oil prices jumped back above $100 a barrel. That does NOT mean we should panic — but it is another reminder of how quickly fuel, transportation, supply chains, and everyday services can be affected when several things happen at once.

I really think every household should try to be prepared to function for at least one week without normal power or services.

A few basics to have:

• At least 7 days of water
• Shelf-stable food + manual can opener
• Medications and first-aid supplies
• Flashlights/headlamps + extra batteries
• Charged power banks
• Battery or hand-crank weather radio
• Pet food and supplies
• Some cash in smaller bills
• Keep your vehicles reasonably fueled
• Generator + safely stored fuel if you have one
• Extra blankets/battery fans depending on weather
• Important phone numbers written down
• A family plan if cell service or power goes down

This isn’t about assuming something bad is coming. Severe storms alone are enough reason to be prepared.

Hopefully you never need any of it, but a little preparation ahead of time can make a huge difference if you do.

I’m looking for a very reputable basement foundation company that works in the south Dayton area.

The basement has block walls with horizontal and stair-step cracks, some inward movement, and water intrusion. I need a company experienced with stabilizing foundation walls and completing the necessary waterproofing work. I’m looking for a written repair proposal and estimate.
