South Main building

Starting to clean up the ceiling on the main floor. The roof needs tk be replaced. All this tin needs to come down. I’m trying to save as much of the tin as I can to repurpose it.

The rendering the state approved except the tandom windows are optional.

I sent in my rendering to the state of my proposal of the Dayton building on south main. He liked it and will take it to his boss to sign the award letter. Briefly, the state will pay up to $100,000 to help fix my building.

There are also grants to help put a fitness center in a rural town so i will be applying for those as well.

Once that’s done, next year I can apply for a grant to help fix up my other Dayton building.

The bedroom and closet exterior walls are now framed and insulated. Progress.

Almost done with the foam board in the apartment. A little bit of a challenge above the stairs but it’s getting done.

FYI.

I applied for a state emergency grant as the back roof has a leak and it needs replacing. I should know soon if I get the grant. The grant will pay for half the costs to remodel the building up to $100,000.

A few conditions to improve the chances of getting the grant is to have an apartment upstairs and a store front on the main floor. Several people have already expressed an interest in renting the main floor.

This is a catalyst grant which means the purpose is to catalyst towards other building upgrades along Main Street. It can be major or minor projects with the goal to make downtown more attractive for shoppers and other businesses to come to town. I’ve talked to other building owners and many do have projects that need to be done. Plus if I get the south main grant it improves my chances of getting a grant for the skillet building.

All takes time. Meanwhile we continue to work on the apartment and our goal is to have it done by this spring.

Bedroom and closet are ready to have the walls built.

Started putting foam board on the exterior walls. I built a temporary stud wall to force the board and adhesive against the original walls until it cures.

The new windows should be here this week.
