Every day, agents are presented with another shiny object.
A new lead source.
A new AI tool.
A new marketing strategy.
A new social media trend.
A new script.
A new CRM.
A new way to generate business.
And while many of those things have value, there's a danger that comes with constantly chasing the next great thing.
The danger is that you start avoiding the thing you need to do most.
I've coached agents long enough to notice a pattern:
Most agents don't have an information problem.
They have a focus problem.
The fundamentals that create a successful real estate business haven't changed much.
Conversations. Relationships. Follow-up. Appointments.
Negotiation. Client experience. Consistency.
Yet every week I meet agents looking for a shortcut around those activities.
The irony is that the shiny object often feels productive because it's new, exciting, and comfortable.
It's easier to spend three hours researching AI tools than it is to make prospecting calls.
It's easier to redesign your CRM than it is to follow up with 20 past clients.
It's easier to create a new marketing plan than it is to have the conversations that generate appointments.
One of the biggest breakthroughs in my own business came when I realized I didn't need more opportunities.
I needed fewer distractions.
The 80/20 rule is real.
A small percentage of activities create the vast majority of the results.
The challenge is that those activities are often repetitive, uncomfortable, and not very glamorous.
But they work.
Every. Single. Time.
So before you chase the next strategy, ask yourself:
"What am I avoiding?"
What activity, if done consistently over the next 90 days, would have the biggest impact on my business?
Then double down on that.
The agents who win aren't usually the ones with the most tools.
They're the ones who stay focused on the fundamentals long after everyone else gets distracted.
Activity breeds productivity.
Stay focused.
Stay consistent.
And don't let a shiny object steal your future.
